King in the North

OK so I realize that when I talk here I usually yammer on about women and relationships and whatnot instead of about drawing which is supposed to be my main shtick. So this time I'm going to lean more in that direction for once.

Y'know how everyone has their favorite and least favorite genre's? Well I've decided that hands down my least favorite is Steampunk; not necessarily because of the look per se but more because of the fans who absolutely adore steampunk. These tend to be indie hipster douchebags and there's nothing I hate more than indie hipsters. When the philosophy on what's popular is based on disliking what's popular, I can't but think that there's some level of inherent retardation present.

On the flipside my favorite genre hands down would be anything post apocalyptic; cities in ruins and nomads or gangs running around ruling the streets. Mad Max shit, and anyone who thinks that Mad Max 2 is "steampunk" because it's in the desert and they have goggles can kiss my black ass. It is not! My second favorite would be anything urban, past or present, I love city environments; that's a part of my New York upbringing that I doubt will ever change.

What's interesting is that in a close third place and rapidly advancing is the medieval genre. It was when I realized that this can be used as more of a backdrop than an actual tangible element of the story. There's something about the system of Kingdoms and Knights and Lords and swordplay that instills a feeling I like in a world setting. With this in mind I am working on my first official story to be released independently to the public and it is set in that kind of backdrop. It's a loose medieval scenario so the wardrobe is armor mixed with a bit of urban (if you can imagine that), there's also ninjas, robots (not gear robots but terminator robocop style robots), zombies, demons, and who knows what else I might toss in.

I always thought that whatever my first official endeavor would be, it would be urban and strictly action adventure because that's something I both enjoy and do fairly well. However, recently I discovered my selling power in fanservice and sex appeal. I've always thought my female characters were sexy, but they were never meant explicitly for fanservice, they're just built curvy because that's how I like women. After a few months of pimping out sexy drawings and receiving a buttload of commissions I've decided to incorporate this aspect heavily into my first foray. Before anyone gets into things about me selling out for smut, I would like to say that there's still a whole lot of action and adventure lined up. I'm starting to storyboard now, I have the first three chapters written, and once I get all of those drawn up, inked, and  lettered I plan on releasing them a page at a time in some kind of weekly webcomic format. Also in my defense some of my favorite artists such as Kouta Hirano of Hellsing fame got their start in hentai; as well as Isutoshi who is incomparable in his blending of humor, ecchi, and action in a whole catalogue of different series; action and sex go hand in hand in terms of selling power. Plus given that I've spent the majority of my early online artistic career in one particular group, the sexy angle appeals to a much larger crowd, but I digress, too much defense makes this seem like an excuse and I'd rather let the pictures speak for themselves. Here are sketch ups of the two main heroines Devi and Selena followed by designs for the bratty rival who will most likely be named Rosetta.

Hope y'all enjoy!

For those interested in more adult material I have an account on HF under the name BadmanBastich and a blogspot called Henthouse which I run with my lovely wife and the help of Greyflame.

The Times They Are A Changing

If you are fortunate enough to live in an area that has actual seasons then now must be a very exciting time; the days are getting longer, the air feeling warmer, the birds are chirping, the girls are wearing less! But not all women treat the springtime equally. You may notice at this time the few eager beavers showing far more skin than the weather warrants, easily identifiable in a crowd of jeans and jackets by their short shorts and halter tops. Now where I'm from that kind of outfit is very indicative, meaning that is no accidental wardrobe selection but rather a personality trait. She didn't happen upon a skimpy set shorts, it wasn't laundry day and she ran out of full shirts, and moths didn't get to all the non revealing clothing in her closet. Nay, that was a choice consciously made during the first day it was slightly warm enough to get away with wearing something that showed off the goods after waiting a long winter to get back on the market. That's right, relationship season is winding down quickly, and the scantily clad females that herald its end are upon us.

As a disclaimer these principles, as founded as they are, do not translate everywhere. For example in Northern England I found it shocking that women would wear summer skirts in the midst of snowstorms, and when almost every girl has a good portion of her ass hanging out I'm left thinking "They can't be sluttily dressed if everyone is doing it... then it just becomes normally dressed, right?" However, that is a place where they boast not just of braving the frozen elements but disregarding their negative effects proudly even to the detriment of their own welfare. The lesson is, know thy surroundings.

Getting back to the harbingers of halter tops, it is of popular opinion that if a girl has dressed looking for a certain type of attention, why not give it to her? Now I'm not saying she's easy or a whore or in any way like you should treat her like less of a person. I am saying that if you are out job hunting, it makes more sense to apply to places that are advertising. Just as some of us men spend a grouchy winter waiting to see the ladies dress in less, some women spend an equally grouchy time waiting to strut their stuff. In the end we're all just people with needs who want a little attention and affection, so if you do happen to see a cutie wearing climate inappropriate clothing, be a friend and say hello.

And as always, I drew some shit-
